Commercial LPG Prices Raised by Rs 195.50 Across India Amid Oil Surge

New Delhi, April 1, KNT: Prices of commercial LPG cylinders were increased by Rs 195.50 on Wednesday, driven by a sharp rise in global oil prices amid the escalating conflict in West Asia, officials said.
Following the revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now costs Rs 2,078.50 in Delhi, according to state-run oil marketing companies.
The hike comes a month after a previous increase of Rs 114.50 per cylinder on March 1, indicating sustained upward pressure on fuel prices.
The development is significant as it directly impacts restaurants, hotels and small businesses that rely on commercial LPG, potentially leading to higher costs for consumers.
In contrast, domestic LPG prices have remained unchanged. A 14.2-kg cooking gas cylinder continues to cost Rs 913 in the national capital, with the last revision — a Rs 60 increase — implemented on March 7.
Officials said public sector fuel retailers revise LPG prices at the start of every month, factoring in global crude oil benchmarks and currency fluctuations.

The latest increase comes amid a sharp surge in international crude oil prices, which have risen by nearly 50 percent due to supply disruptions linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict.
State-owned companies including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited carry out these periodic revisions.
City-wise data shows variation in commercial LPG prices across major urban centres.
In Kolkata, a 19-kg cylinder is now priced at Rs 2,208.50, while in Mumbai it costs Rs 2,031.00. Chennai recorded one of the highest rates at Rs 2,246.50.
Among other cities, the commercial cylinder is priced at Rs 2,320.50 in Hyderabad, Rs 2,353.50 in Patna and Rs 2,161.00 in Bengaluru.
Domestic LPG prices, however, have remained stable across cities, with no change reported in April.
Petrol and diesel prices also remained unchanged, officials said.
In Delhi, petrol is currently priced at Rs 94.72 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 87.62 per litre, following a Rs 2 per litre cut implemented in March last year.
There was no immediate official comment on whether further revisions could follow if global oil prices continue to remain volatile.
Analysts said sustained geopolitical tensions could keep energy markets under pressure, raising the possibility of further adjustments in fuel prices in the coming months. [KNT]
