Doctors Seek Police Action After Alleged Assault on Lady Doctor at Ganderbal Hospital
Ganderbal, May 17, KNT: Delhi-based health activist Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan on Sunday strongly condemned the alleged assault on a lady doctor at District Hospital Ganderbal and demanded strict legal action against those accused in the incident.
In a statement, Dr. Momin Khan described the incident as “unacceptable” and urged authorities to ensure immediate action against the accused persons.
According to a written complaint addressed to the Station House Officer of Police Station Ganderbal by doctors on duty in the casualty ward, the incident allegedly took place on Saturday.
The complaint states that one of the doctors was conducting ward rounds when a patient identified as Mohd Sultan and his attendants allegedly became violent and physically assaulted the doctor on duty.
As per the complaint, the patient had reportedly been admitted as a road accident case involving head trauma and was being managed under proper medical protocol, including stabilization and first aid before being shifted for monitoring.
The doctors alleged that both the patient and attendants misbehaved with medical staff, assaulted the doctor on duty, and used abusive language inside the ward premises.
The complaint further requested formal registration of the case so that legal action could be initiated under law. [KNT]
