Srinagar, April 29, KNT: Srinagar Police have registered a case against certain individuals for allegedly circulating content on digital and social media platforms aimed at promoting separatist ideology and inciting unlawful activities.
The action follows inputs regarding dissemination of videos and other material that police said were intended to propagate false information and narratives prejudicial to the peace, sovereignty, and integrity of India.
Preliminary enquiry, according to police, indicates that the circulation of such content was a deliberate attempt to promote secessionist narratives through digital platforms.
Police said such activities have the potential to incite public disaffection, disturb public order, and undermine national integration.
A case under FIR No. 11/2026 has been registered at Cyber Police Station Srinagar under Sections 152, 196(1), and 353(1)(b), (c), and (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigation has been initiated.
Officials said further details would emerge during the course of investigation.
Police have advised the public to refrain from creating, sharing, or circulating content that violates the law on social media and digital platforms.
They warned that individuals found involved in such activities would face strict legal action. [KNT]
