
Srinagar, May 5, KNT: Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached immovable property worth approximately ₹1.20 crore belonging to an accused involved in narcotics trafficking, as part of an ongoing anti-drug drive aimed at dismantling financial networks linked to the trade.
The action was carried out by Police Station Nowhatta under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in connection with FIR No. 61/2019 registered under Sections 8/20 of the Act.
The attached property belongs to Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Habibullah Sheikh, a resident of Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal in Srinagar.
According to police, the property includes a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block with three washrooms, and land measuring nine marlas.

Investigations have revealed that the assets were acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking. The property has accordingly been identified and attached as illegally acquired under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
Police said the action reflects a continued effort to target the financial backbone of drug peddling and curb the spread of narcotics in society.
Authorities reiterated their resolve to continue strict action against individuals involved in drug trafficking and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug abuse and illegal trade. [KNT]
