
Budgam, June 20, KNT: A rusted mortar shell was unearthed on Saturday during excavation work for the construction of a residential house in the Bomrudha area of Magam in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, prompting the deployment of security personnel and bomb disposal experts.
Officials said the shell was discovered by an individual, Waseem Shah of Bomrudha village, while digging land for the foundation of a house.
The recovery triggered an immediate security response, with personnel from Police Station Magam, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and 62 Rashtriya Rifles rushing to the spot and securing the area to prevent any untoward incident.
Officials said the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was summoned to the site to examine the explosive object and carry out its safe disposal in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Police in this regard have registered a case under relevant sections of law. [KNT]
