Budgam, April 26, KNT: A newly engaged woman from Shopian died after a road accident on Chrar-e-Shareef Road in Budgam, while her fiancé remains under treatment, turning a recent engagement into a fatal incident, officials said on Sunday.
The couple sustained serious injuries in the crash and were rushed to a hospital for treatment. The woman, identified as Nida Nisar, succumbed to her injuries, while the man continues to receive medical care for injuries sustained in the accident.
The incident occurred on a key stretch of the Chrar-e-Shareef road, though the exact circumstances leading to the crash have not been immediately established.
They couple was travelling in a car that went out of control from the driver and plunged into a deep gorge. The vehicle suffered extensive damage due to the impact. Locals helped the couple and shifted them to hospital where woman succumbed.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. [KNT]
